In 2024 FREEDOM TREE embarks on a new chapter with the long awaited release of their new single titled "Moon Blue (Vana Va Kutani)" - available on all platforms worldwide on April 25.
The track has been recorded between Stockholm, Sweden and Maputo, Mocambique is the first in a string of releases anticipated throughout the year. The track features the unmistakable characteristics of the band, while also accommodating beautiful choral vocals by the ”Together" group of singers from Maputo, Moçambique.
The music video for "Moon Blue (Vana Va Kutani)" features outstanding footage by Peder Carlsson (Backyard Babies), Damón Zurawski (Future Legends) as well as scenes from the city of Matola, Moçambique in an inspiring blend of ’feel good energy’ that we feel is the bands most exciting track to date.

Every now and then a trinity will come into place. And when it does it changes the gravity of it all just a little bit. Like a strike of lighting. A toss of good luck. A game changer. A life changer.
Freedoms Trio came about like that.
Steinar Aadnekvam - the expat Norwegian acoustic guitar phenomenon - had just returned to Scandinavia after many years in north eastern Brazil and had begun working with Deodato Siquir - the Mozambican super drummer and vocalist - at the clubs in Stockholm when Rubem Farias - the prodigy Brasilian bass virtuoso - relocated to the Nordics from Sao Paulo and after some persistently combined indication from a friend of a friend and another friend, the three musicians eventually found each other in 2014.
Their friendship and the musical magic was instantaneous and the group released their first album for Losen Records; «Freedoms Trio» (LOS 137-2) in 2016 and went on to play more than 100 concerts across the Nordic countries, Belgium, Switzerland and Germany. In 2018 the trio follows up with their second offering; “FREEDOMS TRIO II” .
‘Freedoms Trio’ - as the band has become known - emerges from a concept of “afro jazz” but through their lens the music finds a whole array of characteristics and reference. Here is rock, here is samba, here is funk. Here is romance. Here are intricate compositions, dancing rhythms, amazing melodic runs and improvisations, three part vocal harmonies and a simple but strong message in an open call to come together, teasing the listener invitingly to let go and be all but absorbed in the celebration ...
One listener who has been very supportive of the group is American guitar legend, Robben Ford, who has been kind to contribute with his words to the album sleeve. He writes; “The music of this trio is both complex and joyful, full of passion and energy. Not only do you hear amazing guitar playing from Steinar Aadnekvam, but equal musicianship from drummer Deodato Siquir and bassist Rubem Farias. Plus they have a natural synergy which can be rare, especially when the musicians are so accomplished individually. People should hear 'Freedoms Trio' . Gives you hope. "
